County Championships 2020

Congratulations to all of our swimmers who took part in the Staffordshire County Championships over 4 weekends in February.

We were represented by Maisie Beattie, Lily Beff, Ben Hilton, Daniel Hopkinson, Jimmy Hopkinson, Romy Jackson, Harry Meakin, Imogen Mollart, Callum Rushan, Oliver Sheldon-Andres, Thomas Sheldon-Andres, Sam Sigley, Ewan Underwood and Lawrie Whitehead.

Every one of our swimmers should be extremely proud of their achievements at the Championship with PBs tumbling and 30 placed finishes.

Our swimmers took part in 71 events, reaching 30 finals (from a possible 40), gaining a staggering 72 personal best times. Their performance culminated in 14 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals, which is a remarkable 19 more than last year.

These results now mean that we have 6 swimmers with qualifying times for the West Midlands Championship, so they will go on to represent the club there in May.

Once again, huge congratulations to our swimmers.

Head Coach, Simeon Yates, added that the club had “an amazing performance at Counties, with a record number of swimmers qualifying, an amazing medal and pb haul that shows that the hard work and dedication of the swimmers and coaches has really paid off…onwards and upwards now to the Regionals in May…keep up the good work.”
